When I got asked to be a Sports Abassador I didn’t know what the role would consist of, but so far it has been very enjoyable. When I got told I would be representing Welwyn Garden City as a SA for the Womens Tour I was thrilled. On the 10th May we all had to go onto stage and have an interview with BOB fm about our roles in sport and what we would be doing on throughout the day. After that we had to introduce ourselves to all of the sponsors and hand out brochures to the supporters. This was all fun, but then we got to stand in the VIP area with all the important people and organisers. This made all of us SA feel very special. When the cyclists came through it all happened so fast, these women were travelling at high speed for over 40 miles for around 5 days, now this is what you call a successful athlete. This women are truely inspirational and it’s great to see other women succeeding in their sports. After the race had finished we were rushed off to the podium where we got to stand and have our photos taken with the winners, and a bonus of this was I had a few minutes of fame on the podium when it got aired on ITV4 that night. When I watched it back it was so weird seeing myself on tv and seeing how far I’d come from when I first took part in sport. We got to meet most of the cyclists and have photos with them, which will be a memory I will never forget.
